Hey Kirk....concerning Jack Bogle......& Vanguard

Prior to starting new position in any stock, I check to see who owns it

If Vanguard Funds and Fidelity Funds own some of the company I'm considering buying.....thats a huge vote of confidence for that stock.

I have 10 parameters by which I measure a stock..(PE, Book Value, Outlook...etc) if 7 or 8 of these parameters are met I'll probably start a small position. I do not even look at penny stocks. I like substantial companies that are likely to be around for the next decade.

I have no public pension....I live on S.S. and still have a small amount of money going into reserve account each month.

Like you I have an older Ford Pick up F150 4x4 in very nice condition. Its a gas hog, but its a nice ride.
I don't have a Corvette but I'm looking at some restored tractors (Ford Jubilee, Ford 8N or 9N) so I can play farmer on some minor acreage I own.

In my opinion...driving your cost of living down is more important than increasing your income and leads to better long term results.

Financial advisors always ask "How much money do you need on a monthly basis to retire on"
bad question..... they should ask...."How little can you get by on?. Thats a better target to aim for.
