Concerning Pine trees....If you have an inclination to see how large these trees can get, visit Grayling Mi (about 80 miles south of the Mackinaw bridge). There is a MI state park called Hartwick Pines . which has 160 acres of never harvested White Pines . Those trees are mammoth in girth and height. Second only to the Redwoods of CA. Most of those trees are 400 to 550 years old. They were seedlings when Columbus landed.
Well worth the visit.. In another 200 years your trees will be a tourist attraction. So plan ahead. You could call it Furman's Pines.


Hartwick was a civil war general that originally owned the land and then deeded it to the state to be kept as a nature preserve.
