Good summary Bob!

When banks did not participate in these high risk loans they got fined for redlining communities - not making loans to people that they knew would be in default with the next economic recession.

This stupidity started with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) in the 80's. I was on the board of a bank then and it was clear we were being forced into making bad loans. More social engineering and freebies to unqualified minorities that later came home to roost. Viva Venezuela and Che Guevara!
