Why is EWP so argumentative?

Because it is to a large degree subjective.

Think about it as a "rule guided gut feeling".

The important word in this is "rules". That's what gives the method value - it's a lot better than plain old gut feeling.

So, if used as a probabilistic guide, it's helpful. But one must stay fluid and flexible. Being a "true believer" with regard to any given scenarios is a mistake -- you'll be right on some, of course... and pay a heavy price on some others.

Robert Prechter is a great expert in EW... but he'd ruined his reputation by being wrong for many years, on some large scale scenario. Kept seeing that big top around every corner, year after year. Killed his stats as a market advisor - his rating is the lowest among the well known gurus.
