When my kids went to grade school, some moms were

"competing" with each other, each saying how bad they are at cooking,

"my husband cooks for me!"

.
.
.
.
"we just go out to eat every night"

Their ineptitude as a status symbol.

Anyway, my wife and I share the cooking.

Less than 60 percent of suppers served at home were actually cooked at home last year.Only 30 years ago, the percentage was closer to 75

Which is likely the reason that people tend to be less healthy and heavier.

Eating out they tend to be heavy on the added salt and fat and whatever to make their food "taste good" but not necessarily taste the way food should taste.

For example - fried breaded whatever. Really, the majority of taste is the oil breading and not so much the whatever. The bread and oil - probably used many times so the concentration of undesirable chemicals due to oil degradation is high - probably contribute more than half the calories, mostly empty.

A few nights ago we have boiled skinless chicken thighs - doesn't sound so good but the taste was amazing!
