Hi Tom and Linda,
Welcome back Linda. We all missed you.
Quick Summary of the Foolish 4
Take all 30 DJ stocks and sort them by their yield with the highest yielding stocks on top.
Take the top ten from the above list and sort them by their price with the lowest priced stocks on top.
Stock #1 do not invest in at all.
Stock #2 gets 40% of your total investment.
Stock #3 gets 20% of your total investment.
Stock #4 gets 20% of your total investment.
Stock #5 gets 20% of your total investment.
Hold all for stocks for 1 year and recalculate. With the new tax laws enacted last year it has been recommended that you hold on for 1 1/2 years. Stocks 2 through 5 make up the Foolish 4.
I used this method from 2/96 thru 2/97 Netted 40% for the year.
From 2/97 to present we're up about 25%
Bernie
