Thousands of us tried to do what FB became. I left tech to try and do it at one company using my newsletter and financial knowledge to attract traffic... had 20% of the site's traffic at its zenith but the VCs were not able to monetize it properly and they eventually tried to use it to sell writing rather than profit from the advertising... which I argued for years they should do... and eventually FB came along and relied on advertising while giving all the tools we had but better as they had another decade for computers and now phones to get more powerful.

Anyway, I admire how Zuck accomplished what so many of us failed at. Perhaps it was luck, good advisors or more larceny than most of us competitors whose shoulders he stood on. Anyway, he won and I don't begrudge him. ALL business seems dirty to those it mows over...
