I agree. And that is why I was careful to point out that Bitcoin is just one proof of concept of one type of blockchain. There are many blockchains and there are several types of cryptocurrencies for each blockchain. That said, I think ultimately what will back cryptocurrencies will the force of contract law rather than some commodity. In other words, it will be smart contracts rather than a mined coin that will end up as the winner.
