Hitchhiker gets in a car on a remote highway and after the usual warm up conversation makes the sly remark:

"I've been waiting on the road for hours and nobody stops. How come you were not afraid that I may be a serial killer?"

"Nah," replies the driver, "the odds of two of us being on the same road is almost nil."

The moral of the story - you can't make statements like you just did when you don't know who you are talking to.
