O.T. I agree about that exaggerated misunderstanding...typical overstated sensationalism. If you listen to her talk, it's more like 2020-2050 for the cold period. The only preparation I've done is to add an efficient 40k BTU Toyostove heater which uses fuel oil or kerosene. Our heat here in temperate NC has always been a central air system using a heat pump. However it becomes inefficient below about 25 F and especially when it switches to back-up resistance heating below 20 F. I hope our water line is deep enough (1 foot) but we can always run a drip if we get extended single digits.
