After listening to the interview with Dr. Lacey Hunt on the effect of the massive debt overhang on world economies these days, I was curious what the implications for gold might be. I spent some time going through his various speeches and comments but didn't discover anything direct. At first glance, if our debt balances have created a permanent deflationary or at least minimal inflation status, gold would seem to be more and more irrelevant. Of course the full story is more complex. I noticed recently how little "flight to safety" type buying took place during the blowup in the China trade negotiations...here but China as well which surprised me.

Just comments...wondering what the future will bring.
