Brendan and Jelrod3: Thanks for two great contributions to the thread. The warning on 8 Jan knocked enough air out of the balloon to mitigate the effect of the events yesterday, as far as I am concerned. It was difficult for the conference call to be upbeat after the dissapointing earnings. I am not worried about the SCSI market and am pleased at a renewed focus on cutting costs and think the marketing initiative is overdue. (I still believe, as I posted some time ago, that Adaptec should get away from its extremely bland and dull nominclature of its products. I am not one to polish a turd, but Adaptec's products are first rate and should be given names that stick. It is surprising that a company that puts so much creative effort into its annual report has missed the boat on marketing.) Looks like we have at least 6 months of waiting for the adjustments to have an effect on earnings. I hope I'm wrong. Just my opinion. Again, thanks to both of you for the postings. Starowl
