| They look like very good value for the money, the big IF as you say is initial quality. I read all the long term tests on the C7 when it came out, and every mag reported significant problems with the car, (axle leaks, starter failure, engine failure, body problems, paint issues, etc). The C8 is a much bigger leap in terms of change than C6 to C7 was, this time we have the engine moved (potential cooling problems?), an entirely new dual clutch transmission, apparently a new electrical architecture, suspension has changed from traditional leaf springs to coils, etc etc. If Honda was putting this out I'd be more inclined to take a 'first year chance', but based on Chevy's past history I would wait. I saw an interview a couple days back about the car with a large group of Corvette owners, and they all said the one big concern was initial quality. I suppose we can hope Chevy got the message based on what occurred with the last car, so maybe this time they will surprise everyone and get it mostly right on the first try. |
