TSMC posts record August revenues

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) saw its August revenues climb to a record high of NT$106.12 billion (US$3.4 billion).

TSMC's revenues for August 2019 represented increases of 25.2% sequentially and 16.5% on year. Revenues for the first eight months of the year totaled NT$650.58 billion, up by a slight 0.6% from the same period in 2018.

Market watchers expect TSMC to see its third-quarter revenues come within the guidance given in July. A pull-in of orders placed by HiSilicon, AMD, Apple and MediaTek will be buoying the foundry's sales performance during the quarter, according to the watchers.

TSMC is also expected to post another sequential growth in fourth-quarter revenues, thanks mainly to robust 7nm chip demand, the watchers continued.

TSMC estimated previously third-quarter revenues at between US$9.1 billion and US$9.2 billion, representing an around 18% sequential increase.
