Where is your city on the list? Best & Worst Places to Retire in California: Interesting list. Three cities I've lived in since 1979, Mountain View (#19), Sunnyvale (#18) and Los Altos (#2), are in the top 20. The four cities I lived in between birth and college graduation, San Francisco (#102), Eureka, Daly City(#22) and Berkeley (#51), are not in the top 20 but Daly City has a good showing in the top 25.
