I'll probably buy a self driving van built like a tank to drive me to windsurfing if I am still able to do it when these become available. Until then, I'm very happy here living for about a third the property taxes someone would pay to buy my home... On the flip side, I am paying 10x what another neighbor pays who has lived here for about 50 years. Of course she votes for all the demospender packages and once complained to me when I wrote a letter to the editor protesting more special assessments that I should consider the extra $300 to $500 a year a "donation to the schools." Easy to say when your annual property tax would not pay the rent on a cheap 1b/1b apartment and she made extra money working as a substitute teacher while her husband made big bucks at Lockheed.

I don't begrudge her tax rate any more than I feel I should pay what new people pay... Prop 13 works. But, it is in my best interest to show just how terrible and expensive it is here now to discourage others from moving here and driving up the costs even more!

One could say I'm reaping the rewards of making huge sacrifices to buy here 25 years and 4 days ago.... knowing that "real inflation" would be in land and hard assets and owning good land you can live on was a huge dividend compared to gold or any other asset.

But thanks for the suggestions!

BTW, I made a nice buy of a newsletter stock near its 2019 low using some of my FNSR profits yesterday. I'll buy more if it goes lower plus some others I've got my eyes on...
