With all the scary letters from PG&E... I bought a 2200 W Honda generator. amzn.to

I was in their "official" warning zone since I share a zip code with Los Altos Hills that had power shut off near the top and a valley where wind whips through. Otherwise, we usually don't get NE "Diablo Wind" as flows over the Silicon Valley.

They sent scary letters and warnings such that I couldn't sleep wondering how to best prepare. Then I decided spending less than $1200 for the generator, tanks, siphon, tax, full tanks of gas in autos, etc. it would both allow me to sleep well AND be ready for the big one.

With full tanks of gasoline in both vehicles, 2-gallons in a small tank plus a siphon kit to transfer gas to the generator from the autos if the power is out at gas stations, I'm ready for the PG&E zombie apocalypse or "the big one!" ;)

My brother has the older 2000W version that they used to backup the solar at their cabin (that firefighters are using to stage to fight the Kincade fire right now!... thus saved the rebuilt cabin from the 2004 wildfire). His power was turned off in Napa and he said it worked well to keep his refrigerator, phones, PC and a few lights running when their power was shut down for a few days in the last shutdown...

It is crazy... as a homeowner who wants affordable fire insurance, I'm glad PG&E is shutting down the power. Our idiot governor is making a huge stink so he can run for president but one of the big issues is some firefighting expert on TV said there were over 1 MILLION dead trees in the state that need to be removed or burned down...
