Those are pretty intense winds. I realize this time of year is usually pretty dry along the Cali coast. Has it been unusually so? So are you in the maybe category for power down?

Yes, there has been change. Oceans are warmer. And the coastal areas, particularly where you are have seen some of the warmer aspects.

I think the story inland is more complicated. Here in NM I would say we haven't changed much overall temp wise. We have gone through a 15 + year period now where it has been drier overall...and again that varies across the inland sw plains here. But I think it is drier overall. Temp and precip are two different things. I am worried about a coming cooler period also being drier. Colder weather here is usually drier weather.

As far as average precip over a several year period, I attribute our last 20 years or so to what's called the PDO...pacific decadal oscillation.

en.wikipedia.org .

Which affects you guys too. That cycle is very noticeable here and goes back for many centuries. It is well studied and is quite apparent in tree rings...and old timer talk if you listen to them here. We should be coming out of it pretty soon. I think the worst of it is behind us at this point. For the past few years, precip picked up. But this year has turned out pretty rough for some of us. Overall cooler on average and very dry. Our monsoons failed and fall hasn't brought much moisture in for us. My partner on the east side of the state, on the other hand, is doing great. Mountain snows were very good this past year also. So it gets hard to sort out on a larger and longer term basis.

Anyway, good luck. Hope you don't need the gen.
