Anyone want to take a short break from trips, quads, headlines, and college humor <g>, to take part in an informal prognosticators poll ? Vote for one of the following as the most likely outcome of Clintons current scandal du jour:
A) He wiil be impeached
B) He will resign
C) He will continue in office as an extemely lame duck
D) He will weather the storm and resume business as usual
I vote for B for the following reasons. The special prosecutor has got Monica in a box. She eithers sings or gets popped for a felony (perjury). There has been media speculation about the purported sharp division between the White House legal and political staff about an appropriate response to the allegations. If Clinton was clean, this discrepancy of opinion wouldn't exist. As the whole sordid business drags on, the public, while relishing a juicy sex scandal, will grow increasingly impatient with the ship of state drifting without a firm hand on the wheel. With so many important foreign policy issues to deal with, having the head of the US government perceived world wide as a laughingstock could lead to unpleasant consequences. I think a groundswell of public opinion will force him to resign within the next three to six months.
Back to college. I personally don't care, on a moral level, whether or not he nails low mileage tail. He just should have been smart enough to be more discreet about it.
