I know for a fact that the Dept of Energy has had a bias for anything solar and electric and it is based on the idea that if we do not support those industries, then the Chinese will kick our asses one day because they do support theirs. It doesn't matter that the businesses are terminal money losers that few people would ever care about were it not for subsidies. It is just a mindset that we might be left in the cold if we do not have a foot in those doors.

And here is the other thing. Has anyone asked themselves why TSLA has received preferential treatment from the Chinese when the Chinese have over 1500 electric car companies operating there? It sure isn't because they love Elon. There are other forces at work.
