Yes, my family is in the Carmel Valley area next to Del Mar just north of San Diego. Nice place to live.

IBM was way different from the company I worked for prior to going with them, it was a smaller company called Shared Medical Systems, I worked for them in NYC where they had a contract to computerize all the city hospitals. Much more of a freewheeling culture, lots of fun, the best job I ever had. IBM was much more 'by the book' and bureaucratic. Was getting married though and the job was where my future wife was, so I made the switch. I do still use Thinkpads exclusively though, love the trackpoint, although they have been made by Lenovo for a long time now.
