Joe Simitian was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors in 2012, after serving 12 years in the California Legislature. From 2004 until 2012, he represented the 11th State Senate District, which includes 931,349 residents spread throughout San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. From 2000 until 2004, he represented the 21st State Assembly District.
