For epidemiologists, this pandemic is a godsend; they get to study all the various countries, each with different demographics and climates, and importantly the various approaches to the disease. There are enough data points from China's scorched earth to doing next to nothing and all the shades in between to keep them busy studying what works where and how.

I fear that the US role in this dataset will be that of a too little, too late, then panic. While India and Pakistan's role will be one of what happens if we do nothing.

When this is all said and done, it is likely that an international task force (probably under WHO) will be dedicated to global coordination of putting out pandemics.
