>>>One of the largest benefits of living here is the large abundance of very smart people to interact with.<<<

Strange you state it in those terms. I used to travel to California on many, many occasions during the late 1980's and early 1990's. We bought a company over in Concord and I was on the acquisition team back then. Used to fly out there and stay 2-3 weeks at a time over a period of months. Also have traveled there many times in the vacation mode all the way from San Diego up to the Oregon border and many points in between.

I definitely ran across lots of people that were very smart and a lot more that thought they were during the Concord experience. On balance though I wonder if there is evidence that California with lots more sharpies than anywhere else in the world? I seriously doubt it.
