The "Real Inflation" that I measure as the cost to buy a beater home on land in the Silicon Valley that is worth more if demolished... is back at record highs. Rich enclaves like Hillsborough are more expensive and exclusive and they are at record highs also. I just helped a friend tally up net worth on a spreadsheet and hers was only down 2% due to the higher prices of the land in Hillsborough almost offsetting stock market declines since her last tally.

Incredible but I predicted it decades ago and used it as an excuse to buy land to live on and enjoy rather than hard assets you pay someone to store. I love Jay Leno's garage and how he invests in mobile art... but I shudder at the property taxes and registration fees he has to pay to CA each year for all his valuable collector cars that also appreciate well despite the government nonsense about what is inflation.

This is real inflation.... Fully amortized car was equipment (40 yrs old?) where workers get $16 min wage now plus Obamacare so the costs of a car wash are more fully reflected in the prices (before the workers were subsidized by whomever pays for EV visits for heath care.)

$13 to $30... the TRUE measure of "real inflation" anywhere there are good jobs.
