My biggest failure in life is the inability to convince other of "my brilliance." Seriously, when I was at HP they pointed out I had great ideas but didn't have the skills set to get them implemented. They sent me to a bunch of exceptional training classes for it and I got much more successful... But it is not a natural skill and I failed to convince many I've worked with after leaving HP to do things that are now big, successful companies. So, besides patting myself on the back with that story, the idea is the failure of the State Department was in doing its job. They should have had the skills to get the right info into the right person's hands that could affect influence. Some reports say Peter Navarro warned Trump and others very early but it sounds like they blew him off as more of his "China Hatred" rather and a different policy (my guess.) Given Navarro was in charge of trade and manufacturing policy, you could argue the info got to the right person and Navarro failed to convince Trump. en.wikipedia.org businessinsider.com President Donald Trump was informed in late January of a memo written by his trade adviser, Peter Navarro, warning that 'half a million American souls' could die of coronavirus, The New York Times reported Saturday. Trump has denied he saw the memo at the time. The Times also reported that Trump was displeased that Navarro had put the information in writing. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. I saw Trump deny on TV he saw this memo... one of the few cases I believe he is lying about.
