Hi Kirk,

I went to Mount Vernon and ran a 10 K Cherry festival run.

After the run I had a banana and some gatorade and was able to tour the place. George married Martha after her first husband had died while crossing the Atlantic. He owned several ships and moved the wealthy from Euro to the "Americas". At hte time he married martha her wealth was worth 16 million. If you add martha's money and he inherited his uncles plantation on the Patomac ( including slaves). It is safe to say George was one of the wealthiest in the "New America".

Thus the hatred to the English Monarchy, who wanted taxes and the money being created.

It is more than safe to say George had a LOT of skin in the game.
