I know somebody who passed away from the illness. He was older and overweight and not particular healthy. I know another young person who wasn't tested but almost certainly got the virus and only had that weird symptom of losing her sense of smell/taste for a few days, then it returned.

Since most people tested now were much more than mild cases, it's a reasonable estimate that 5-10 million Americans have been exposed, and most of those recovered already. The more, the better. That isn't enough for herd immunity, but it's a start.

I'm also ready to things to loosen up. But with a better plan in place, it's clear that it we went back to normal, it will spike dramatically overnight (normal being e.g. sold out Yankee Stadium; sick people going to work, etc.).
