marshall, okc is in line for late 1998 or early 1999 service of cable modems .i don't know if that counts your specific neighborhood but it'll be worth enquiring i'm sure. >>but they seem to be busy using their resources wiring to a larger subscriber base.<< sure i know they go for the 'easy pickins first. heck they don't have the bucks to do it any other way.when they start doin the area you'll be surprised how fast it goes ,very slick op. >>If nothing else the advance of cable modems is going to spur the darn RBOCs into easing their tariff stands about xDSL and I'll take whatever comes along first if the monthly prices for the line & the ISP justify the increased bandwidth from the internet.<< yeah nothing like a little good old fashioned competition to help the little guy(us)./ and hey don't forget you don't need a telephone line if you get a cable modem. naah you'll probably need at least one line ;-). >> PS: No manholes in this neighborhood nor in most of the areas that would be considered potential subscribers. On top of that the city would expect some exhorbitant returns for allowing anyone to use what few storm sewers exist - that's why the neighborhoods run most of the rain water down the streets for miles.<< you sure don't live on the 'wet coast' do you. stak ps i feel for the people who have to wait for bigpipes. i use the pots modem just to remind me sometimes. really it changes everything. and you can never go back.
