It has steadily gotten worse over the decades as the technology has improved.
The compulsion for some to scream about Trump for any thing that goes wrong seems pathological.
For my memory, it seems some have hated presidents all the way back to Johnson's (LBJ # 36) "Great Society" and civil rights legislation.

To me the party animosity seemed to get really bad with Ken Starr and his assistant, Brett Kavanaugh, going after Bill Clinton for all they were worth until they "got him" lying under oath about a sexual encounter during testimony about a pattern of behavior for alleged rape charges. What amazed me at the time was NOW seemed OK with accusing women victims of lying because it was "their rapist" in power. They wanted to block Brett Kavanaugh from the Supreme Court for what seemed to me like a woman who "would say anything" to keep her right to choose... yet this same courtesy is not extended to the woman accusing Biden of worse...

The Dems "got even" when Bush #41 "stole the election" and they spent 8 years telling us how stupid a man smart enough to get the keys to fighter jets was because "he talked funny like a deplorable." That was a huge slap in the face to most in the mid West.

Then the GOP got their chance to up the game by telling us for eight years how Obama is a Muslim born in Africa who drinks beer and probably also loves BBQ pork and bacon. His biggest mistake probably was to say his opposition "only have their guns and religion" as their excuse...

Then the Dems got even when Trump won after HRC turned up the heat of hatred against those "deplorables" who "only have their guns and religion."
The next president, Trump, got his fame by leading the chants that Obama was not a US citizen eligible to be president and that HRC was a crook.... Crooked Hillary. So, it is no surprise when Trump wins that his opposition calls him a racist and misogynist .... and continues the pattern of lying to make him look as bad as possible, with no care about the real truth....

It seems to work for the 20% extremists for both parties while 60% of us in the wide middle look on in horror as these 40% are ruining our country.
