Ms. Shell, can't resist putting my two cents in on this one...Saigon was safe as it went unless you got run down by a cyclo or a Honda 50...if you were like Joesph L. Galloway...you can read about Mr. Galloway in "We were Soldiers Once...And Young", which he coauthored with Lieutenant General Harold G. Moore, Retired, to gain his vantage point in the beginning battles in the Ia Drang around Landing Zone (LZ) X-ray...journalists like Mr. Galloway earned a soldier's respect...he paid his dues...you want to know what it was like in the field in heavy contact with a hostile force??? If so, read the book... By the way, I was on a ten man advisory team at the lowest level in the Central Highlands. Incidentally, where were you?
