Frustrating. Most have no clue that "equal opportunity" doesn't mean "equal results." It is a crying shame that parents waste the opportunity for their poor kids in CA to get a free UC education with admission on lowered standards if you are a designated minority (Chinese and Indian Asians need not apply) yet the Governor was just ranting about how we don't spend enough money on education for the AA and LatinX communities as something like only 10% graduate HS at grade level math ability. No wonder we couldn't find any engineers and they still can't. I was poor but my mother was a teacher in the district and my father did a low pay job and was home in the afternoons for us kids... They were far from perfect parents (who has perfect parents?) but it was clear we were all expected to get good enough grades to get into a UC school. I was sickened in HS by how many where there just to f'k off and not learn. They wanted me to give a Salutatorian speech at graduation and I said I didn't want to waste time since they were not paying me. One of the teachers I never had volunteered to work with and convince me... I had him do most of the writing as I was really pissed so I dictated my thoughts and we came up with a good speech that was a nice balance of saying we had great teachers and an education for those of us who wanted to take advantage of it... and good luck to the rest. Look on FB today and those who got high, etc. etc. are the ones whining about how unfair society is... while I've made FB friends with one, younger AA who worked hard, got a scholarship playing division 1 football, used that education to get a good job and now has a great life. ONE GENERATION from poor black football player to respected member of the community (Finance manager at a major auto dealer) with his own home and a beautiful fishing boat and wife. Sadly they never had kids to pass this on. But you can't tell me the opportunity is not there if you step up and take it.

But the f'ing politicians sell "blame someone else" for everything from poor COVID-19 immunity due to lifestyle to getting shot by the popo for resisting arrest when high.

I'm probably as pissed off now as I was at high school graduation (where I was also bitter full rides went to "others" who didn't have close to my grades and sports activities while working to save money for college...) But I got over it... somewhat! LOL
