Not many businesses announcing bankruptcy... they might just go away if no inventory after creditors take it back or they donate food. Most you hear about are storied restaurants with long histories that the owners just throw in the towel and retire or sell the land for development.

I just got my haircut... such a luxury! The county opened hair salons yesterday and my GF's 91 yr old mother finally got her hair done (she's Chinese and colors it dark black) so my GF "suggested" more than once that I get mine cut and she is trying to get an appointment to get her's cut and colored.

I like the ladies there after years of being a good customer so I asked the youngest who cut mine today how did she survive, did she get unemployment, etc... She said all she got was the $1,200 and she wanted to work, not take unemployment as she likes working. My guess is the shop hires them as contractors with just enough hours to avoid Obamacare so they can use husband's health insurance. She cut hair for friend's and family for free while shut down... so this probably increased my risk... I told her I hope they at least brought her food for the cuts then said I can't imagine how hard it is to not know when you can make money again. She said she did a lot of walking to help, same as me. First time I've ever given a tip over 100% and maybe I should do it more often.

Tomorrow hair salons are closed again so this was a two day window.... I was "smart" and got mine cut there just a few days before Santa Clara County shut down completely... Half of the reason then was to give my regular lady the extra business before I was scheduled (people were already avoiding Asians by that time.) I would think the excitement about opening for the first time in FOUR MONTHS yesterday then the news half way into the day that Newsom was shutting them down will really hurt those who made the effort to open yesterday. I hope there are not too many suicides or give in to alcoholism and drugs from all this.

I heard a guest on CNBC video conferencing from the East Bay that he's been to SF just once over the duration and the city is filled with tall, empty office buildings. I'll keep suggesting they convert some to housing... maybe they'll finally listen to me.
