Jim: Was a surprise to me after hearing about 31 point rise in the NASDAQ.
Remember the good old days? Here's a bit of nostalgia from three months ago, Oct 29 1997.
"Adaptec Stock A Beacon In Wall Street Darkness"
By Gabrielle Jonas
"Adaptec Inc., which provides bandwidth management technologies, reported that revenue for its second quarter fiscal 1998, ended Sept. 30, was $278 million, up 29% from $215 million in the year-before quarter. Net income was $62.7 million, up from $1 million in the year-before quarter.
"The company's stock shone like a beacon amid the darkness of Wall Street, reaching a high of 49 1/2 before closing at 46 3/8 on Wednesday.
"The company credited the quarter upswing to greater use of its SCSI products in servers and systems. Adaptec, Milpitas, Calif., also credited its 53rd consecutive quarter of profitability and 25th consecutive quarter of revenue growth to "outstanding" employees."
A "beacon"? It may stay here for awhile.
