SYSF's analyst just re-emphasized his strong-buy on SYSF. He said the recent plunge was partially due to the Cybermedia IPO/roadshow coming up. The SYSF people are starting to panic, it looks like...
Again, the SYSF people are playing their "getting old" game of pre-announcing things that never take place. Remember the TWO big keynote addresses where Andy Grove DIDN'T spotlight SystemSoft as promoted a month earlier by SystemSoft (Sept. 24 in NY and Sept. 30 in Chicago)?
What's really interesting is that, even if these guys actually do come up with BIG sales as promised, the analyst projects that they'll earn two years from now what PTEC is conservatively estimated to make NEXT year. And for that, the analyst had given SYSF a target price of $45 by the end of the next 3 quarters (and re-emphasized that in his update). That would be $90 on a pre-split basis!
Come on guys, either SYSF is on dope, their analyst is on dope, or they think investors are dopes. PTEC's analyst only gave PTEC a $20 target (by Feb.). Of course that's way before the major deals with Compaq, Virtual Chips, Cybermedia, etc. ever happened. Ever since then, the analyst has been smoking something with SYSF. But even if he wasn't, there's no way PTEC would ever get a target price anywhere near $90 a share, right? (even though their alliance with Cybermedia now puts them 1-2 years ahead of SYSF)
For the small investors reading this....be very carefull with SYSF. They are probably feeling like they can get away with anything after pre-announcing major things that they knew were never going to happen. I won't say that it WILL happen, but look for SYSF to cook their books (maybe counting FUTURE revenue for current quarters) when their numbers don't meet the HUGE hype that they've put into their stock. I know that sounds absurd, but be carefull small investors. They just screwed you if you bought at $35 and took a big loss at $28 in a matter of days, already knowing that the VW analyst would come in and put out more propaganda. Guess who probably loaded UP while you poor little investors were BAILING out? I really do hope that SYSF is a legitimate player in "call avoidance", otherwise they may ruin it for all the real players like PTEC/Cybermedia. |
