You know Janice, I sat around with some friends on Tuesday night and we argued about this for about an hour. One friend felt that Monica deserved what she got, and that given her history she was, basicly, a slut. Now, I have been thinking about that ever since. Monica Was deserted by her father and has a pattern of dating older married men, possibly trying to make up for her father's love. She was abused by a highschool teacher, who, no matter how flirtatious and available she was, should not have taken advantage of her. Teenagers often act out, and those charged with their education have a duty to set a moral example for them, that shows them adults do not prey on proto-adults. She then goes to the White House where the most powerful man in the nation alledgedly uses her for a completely one sided "realtionship," although relationship hardly (no pun intended) applies here. While I agree that we learn from our mistakes, older and wiser adults are supposed to set an example for the young. I think Monica was let down by most of the adults in her life in this regard. And if (Big IF) President Clinton would do this, than I feel he is not worthy of leading our country. This is not an affair, it is using a young impressionable woman who worked for him as a hooker. |
