The correct response to the first false dichotomy is "I never did beat my wife." It's very simple if you think about it.

Second, your second sentence is not an appropriate analogy. In my example, it is logically inconsistent for both to be true (try substituting the letter A for Grant and B for Lee and set it up in a syllogism). In your example, both could be true, or he could lack character but not show bad judgment, or he could not lack character and show poor judgment etc. I happen to think he does lack character in many respects and, indeed, has shown poor judgment in many respects. Whether or not these poor judgments include perjury and sexual harassment, justify overturning an election and removing him from office remains to be seen. Let's wait until we get the facts.
