I doubt that is true. I was stationed in Boise ID in the mid 90s. Hewlett packard and Micron were building up and I saw first hand the clashes as the California liberal transplants butted heads with the conservative ranchers, farmers etc.
My favorite was when some punk got shot after carjacking some old lady. Liberals were claiming brutality until it was disclosed he was a life term serial rapist/murderer that had escaped a Nevada prison.
