Neil, John Quincy Adams was elected to the Presidency by the House of Representatives, rather than by popular vote. I have no idea by what means he first found his way into the United States Senate, but certainly will take a side trip over to Yahoo (which, BTW, has demonstrated excellent taste in choosing threads for its site picks) and come back with an answer to that one. This really is fun! Holly I see that I got post #3737. I have no idea what possible meaning this might have. <vbg>
