Not too long ago, this could have been a real tragedy. I am often bewildered between how far as a species we have come and how little we still know.

And the same is true for social sciences and the society at large. Despite all the atrocities we see, we live in the most peaceful period in history and humanity is much better behaving now than in any other period. And yet, those atrocities remind us of how far we have to go.

I suppose we are going to be stuck between hope and fear for a few more centuries. If we don't destroy ourselves and the planet by then, perhaps we'll have made it past the our pre puberty danger zone.
