Here's a personal story that deals with the idiocy of PC. I wrote a paper for a class I had
in college. I used the word "mankind" in a very benign sentence. The female TA circled
the word. I then asked her why she circled the word. She told me that I should have used
the word "humankind" because the word mankind might upset someone when reading
it-yeah like her. Since I didn't want to make a scene, and believe me I really wanted to
rip her a new a**hole, I politely told her that I understood. But, I was ready to tell her
that human still had "man" in it.

That is an excellent story. I enjoyed it and you have a valid point. By the way, the word "woman" has man in it too.
