All: Windows review of Adaptec's DirectCD software. techweb.com excerpts: "CD-Rewritable (CD-RW) drives are starting to hit their stride. Prices for hardware and media are decreasing, and functionality is increasing, thanks to new software from Adaptec." "Adaptec's DirectCD is at the core of a CD-RW's performance. It integrates with the operating system and lets you write files to the drive. DirectCD 1.0 allows you to delete space on a CD-RW, but the space is not available unless you reformat the entire disc. Version 2.0 (in concert with firmware in a CD-RW drive) lets you reclaim that space, just as you can with floppy and hard drives. However, you sacrifice some storage space: DirectCD 2.0 needs more room to store tables and file information; formatted discs provide only 517MB of storage."
