(This is the same Alter who helped Clinton cover his draft dodging in the 1992 campaign). Alter says 60 Minutes'producer Hewitt made the editing call - the same Hewitt who helped make sure that Nixon would look bad in the 1960 debates. Clearly then, Hewitt intended and made the original airing to be a major resusitation effort for Clinton. Actually, the only thing this episode confirms that "we already knew anyway" is: That the major media will report the truth on their candidates only when 1) they can't help it, or 2) it no longer matters, (see JFK1, Slick and Hillary Rodman).
