LOL. Thanks

I like Larry Elder but sometimes he seems like Rush in pandering to a group for money rather than common sense to actually make meaningful change

He posted this on his FB page and my reply, improved for my "book" is below

I'd settle for "March is Personal Responsibility Month" and make a list of all that should be in "the talk" including:
  1. Respect authority. Adults, teachers, police and fire fighters should be obeyed as their first duty is to protect you. Even if they are wrong and do something bad, memorize badge numbers and live to fight another day.
  2. Treat EVERYONE with respect just as you want to be treated.
  3. Don't steal from others. They work hard saved for what they buy. It is not yours. By stealing you not only hurt others but yourself as you show yourself you are unwilling to earn what you stole honestly.
  4. Don't use physical violence. It may land you in jail or in a "gang war" where family or friends of those you hurt get even and hurt you even more for revenge.
  5. Finish high school then go to trade school or college to get a great job
  6. Don't get anyone pregnant or have a kid until you've finished college or trade school and have a good paying job plus a trustworthy partner to help you with the wonderful but difficult task of raising another wonderful human being.
  7. Avoid debt except to buy your first car and home. Pay credit cards off monthly. Don't make the bankers rich by living above your means.
  8. Save 10% of what you make. Eventually you can buy a house and never have to pay rent or worry about being gentrified
-Don't tell your friends or family about this so you don't have to refuse to lend or give it to them. Keep it secret!
Even if you had the worst parents and grew up in the worst neighborhood, you CAN improve your situation if you follow the steps above.
