I wouldn't go that far. People don't want governance until chaos takes over. Even hippie and libertarian "utopian" communities eventually discover that governance is a must.

I think it is more likely that most people prefer someone else take on the job of the "benign dictator." And so long as the thread remains mostly civil and not too offensive (political or otherwise), then the job will seem unnecessary.
