Janice, according to what I understand about Texas law, Tucker should not have been given the death penalty in the first place. The 2 requirements for a death penalty are premeditation or posing a continuing threat to the public (second condition on the face of it, is idiotic) when the murders were committed she was wigged out on drugs. This is the type of thing that is causing me to change my pro-death penalty view. Look at the British au pair case, she was convicted of murder by a jury, but the judgedecided that the penalty didn't fit the crime so he reduced the conviction to manslaughter and time served. Someone pointed out the heinous nature of Tuckers' crime, using a pick axe to murder the victims. I guess the lesson here is if you're gonna murder someone in Texas, make sure you don't use a gardening implement to accomplish it, use something, uh, a little more conventional.....bp
