Howdy Win,

Good post.

My partner and I each cut about 25%. Old ones and the ones you don't like as in maybe they kicked you last year when you were trying to put fly spray on them go first.

Putting in a couple of hours every evening feeding. I bought a lot of hay last fall knowing this was coming. Price has doubled since. Kind of keeping them going 30/70...on the old little bit of dry grass remaining and hay.

We are getting a little rain...more on the east side of the state now where my partner is. Southeast flow up from the Texas gulf, which is always good for us, is trying to push rain up here across the plains.

We are all counting on the monsoons to save us. Heat addled, tired, desperate, and all jacked up on that favorite rancher drug...hopium. If not, we probably get rid of most of the rest by this fall.

I asked my partner, a middle aged single cowboy character, what he would do. His son is headed off to college in Colorado on a base ball scholarship. He said he was interested in tagging along and resuming his double major in women's studies and pool hall history...which he said he did pretty well at before quitting college the first time and going off to rodeo for a few years.

Hmm.....I always thought about going off to school and learning some more things...maybe. I'm happily married but pool hall history...now that could be fun.
