Most of us with a brain DO NOT want more housing. It will just turn it into Hong Kong which has an even worse housing crisis and is far more crowded.

Most of the city council is owned by real estate agents who also advertise in the local papers so they all want high growth and more housing to sell fort he commissions.

Most of the people voting against more housing want to stay here until we die so higher prices just makes it more expensive via property taxes AND what we have to pay to others. We don't want to turn into another SF or Hong Kong.
