"Breakthrough cases" are to be expected. The vaccines are supposed to be about 94% effective, not 100 percent effective. (Edit - and that depends on the particular vaccine and the particular strain involved, 94% could go down to more like 65 to 70 percent in some cases).

Covid caused hospitalization and death among the fully vaccinated should decline even more but not go to zero.
