Yup, JFK was a great orator--even when he told the crowd in Berlin that he was a jelly doughnut. <vbg> My point is that he did nothing to further space exploration, and his Administration effectively scuttled the space program during his term of office. Had he been around after 1964 and had he been reelected (very doubtful) the story might have had another ending.

My more subtle point perhaps is to show how easily and effortlessly history can be rewritten and accepted as fact.
